Individual Counseling

nashville individual counselingIndividual counseling is the process in which clients collaborate one-on-one with a trained therapist in a calm, safe, supportive and confidential environment. Individual counseling provides an opportunity to explore one’s feelings, beliefs and/or behaviors and receive support and guidance while adjusting to and/or make changes in their life.  The ultimate goal is to experience personal growth with a healthier relationship with one’s self and others.

Individual counseling (sometimes referred to as “psychotherapy,”) can help with relationship issues as well as specific diagnosable mental health conditions, including anxiety, addiction, trauma and PTSD.

When working one-on-one with a client, I look at how the individual exists within their environment. I see problems of helplessness and powerlessness become opportunities to take control of what you can & let go of what you can’t. My techniques include mindfulness, EMDR, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

My positive, integrative approach focuses on your strengths, wellness and the capacity to change.

My background in physical therapy gives me unique insight to connect the body and the mind. When working as a physical therapist, I saw many people with chronic pain or conditions.  P.T. often provided relief but sometimes only temporarily.

When my clients present with physical symptoms, we are able to uncover mental and emotional issues that contribute to the physical symptoms. Over time, the symptoms can be reduced or eliminated.  This can be particularly helpful with headaches and back pain, especially if there is a history of trauma.  The body has a memory that is masked by our thoughts and feelings.

My hope is for you to transform your pain, and find acceptance and peace to live life to the fullest!

If you’re looking for counseling in Nashville, my services can provide the assistance you need, regardless of the challenges you’re facing.
